One of the most of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" trailer, which debuted during Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, shows Emma Watson standing in the back of a pickup truck while it speeds through a tunnel, her arms raised. It's echoed later in the trailer as Logan Lerman tentatively raises his own arms in the same action. According to their co-star Ezra Miller, it's going to be one of the best scenes in the film.
"When she, like, opens her arms and they had that thing, the ultimate arm, which is like this robotic arm extension off the top of a car, and they were like speeding by her to catch that — well, I don't want to give it away, I guess, but it's sick," he told MTV News on red carpet. "The tunnel scene is epic! That's what it was always supposed to be."
In addition to being excited about the film because he's involved in it, Miller said he was psyched about that scene because it was emotionally resonant in the novel. Miller was a fan of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" book since his teenage years.
"I grew up with this book, and so what the tunnel scene means for me is this whole [experience]," he said. "The tunnel scene, I mean, I've never shot anything like that. I've never been involved in anything like that. I haven't seen [the movie], but I remember watching it after we'd done it, or after the stunt crew had gone out really to do it with Emma and then with Logan, and watching it and just being like, it's just that thing of like, 'Why would I deserve to be at all affiliated with this thing that I didn't help to happen but is one of the coolest things I have ever seen on film.' "
Miller, Watson and Lerman were all on hand to present the trailer during the MTV Movie Awards pre-show. They later took to the MTV Movie Awards stage to present the award for Best Male Performance to Josh Hutcherson. Watson also accepted awards on behalf of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" for Best Cast and Best Hero.
Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. See what just happened at the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards!
