Josh Hutcherson tells MTV News that director Francis Lawrence 'has his finger on the pulse of the story.'

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Coming off their big night at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, the cast of "The Hunger Games," which took home four buckets of Golden Popcorn, is already planning the next installment of the series, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."
MTV News' Josh Horowitz caught up with stars Josh Hutcherson and Elizabeth Banks during the awards ceremony to find out where preparations for "Catching Fire" currently stand.
Last week came word that the crew may leave behind its North Carolina location from the first film for a shoot further south in Atlanta. Hutcherson told MTV News that he hasn't heard a definitive word on the location, but he is looking forward to the shoot.
"I haven't heard anything confirmed yet, but Atlanta is a big possibility. I know they're looking at Hawaii, too, for some of the tropic stuff when we're in the Games itself," he said. "I'm excited. It's going to be somewhere nice. I'm looking forward to it."
A possible change in filming location would be a minor shift compared to the director swap that captured headlines months ago. Hutcherson said that he recently saw the new director, Francis Lawrence, and is excited about his vision for the next adaptation.
"I just had lunch with him a couple days ago, and he's fantastic. He's so smart and really has his finger on the pulse of the story, and I love the way he's going to structure the script," Hutcherson said. "The first thing he said to me was, 'I want to make the movie out of the book. I want the book to be the best movie possible.' That was immediately what he led with, which meant a lot to me because the books mean a lot to me."
Sunday night's winner for Best On-Screen Transformation, Elizabeth Banks, on the other hand, has not spoken with Lawrence, though she understands why. "They're so early in the process. That seems silly to say because we're going to make the movie in a few months," she said. "But I think he's just started, and we have just gotten scripts, and it's just sort of all happening."
As for whether she can share any details from the script she just read, Banks kept her secrets to herself. "I can't tell you anything," she said. "I read a book called 'Catching Fire' that I'm pretty sure the movie will be based on."
Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. See what went down at the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards!

Emma Watson in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower"
Photo: Summit Entertainment
One of the most of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" trailer, which debuted during Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, shows Emma Watson standing in the back of a pickup truck while it speeds through a tunnel, her arms raised. It's echoed later in the trailer as Logan Lerman tentatively raises his own arms in the same action. According to their co-star Ezra Miller, it's going to be one of the best scenes in the film.
"When she, like, opens her arms and they had that thing, the ultimate arm, which is like this robotic arm extension off the top of a car, and they were like speeding by her to catch that — well, I don't want to give it away, I guess, but it's sick," he told MTV News on red carpet. "The tunnel scene is epic! That's what it was always supposed to be."
In addition to being excited about the film because he's involved in it, Miller said he was psyched about that scene because it was emotionally resonant in the novel. Miller was a fan of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" book since his teenage years.
"I grew up with this book, and so what the tunnel scene means for me is this whole [experience]," he said. "The tunnel scene, I mean, I've never shot anything like that. I've never been involved in anything like that. I haven't seen [the movie], but I remember watching it after we'd done it, or after the stunt crew had gone out really to do it with Emma and then with Logan, and watching it and just being like, it's just that thing of like, 'Why would I deserve to be at all affiliated with this thing that I didn't help to happen but is one of the coolest things I have ever seen on film.' "
Miller, Watson and Lerman were all on hand to present the trailer during the MTV Movie Awards pre-show. They later took to the MTV Movie Awards stage to present the award for Best Male Performance to Josh Hutcherson. Watson also accepted awards on behalf of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" for Best Cast and Best Hero.

MTV Movie Awards Best On-Screen Dirtbag nominee says dirtbags 'have to kick kittens.'
By Christina Garibaldi
UNIVERSAL CITY, California — "Project X" star Oliver Cooper is no stranger to being a dirtbag. No, not in his real life — just on the big screen. In the Todd Philips-produced flick, Cooper takes on the role of Costa, who manages to burn down a neighborhood, betray all of his friends, steal from a drug dealer and even put someone in an oven.
Yet, some good came out of portraying such a terrible character: The role earned Cooper two MTV Movie Awards nominations, including one for the inaugural Best On-Screen Dirtbag award.
Cooper is thrilled to be nominated for the award, going so far as to actively campaign for fan votes to ensure his victory in winning the Golden Popcorn.
When MTV News caught up with Cooper earlier this week outside the Gibson Amphitheatre, home of the Movie Awards, we were curious to find out just what it takes to be the ultimate dirtbag. Not surprisingly, Cooper had all the answers.
How to be a Dirtbag:
1. Have No Regard for Your Friends
The first rule to being a dirtbag is to completely disregard your friends' feelings. If you need some guidance, pay close attention to Cooper's character in "Project X."
2. Dislike Animals — Especially Kittens
Yes, this sounds insane. How can anyone really hate kittens? Well, if you're a dirtbag, you probably do. "Hate animals," Cooper said. "You have to kick kittens when you see them, steal their food when they're not looking."
3. Don't Have Kids
According to Cooper, dirtbags "never want to have kids." We really aren't sure why, but we think if you're a dirtbag, you might understand.
Find out whether Cooper wins the award for Best On-Screen Dirtbag and Best Comedic Performance tonight at 9 p.m. ET.

This year's Best Kiss nominees are as diverse as they are titillating. Whether the smooch's setting was rain-soaked, in a cave, seven years in the making or post-marriage, the nominees for this consistently popular 2012 MTV Movie Awards category all deserve credit for their wonderfully cinematic tongue tangos.
Here's a look at this year's very competitive category:
Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, "Crazy, Stupid, Love"
Much ado has been made over the all-around swoonworthy-ness of Ryan Gosling and the all-around likeability of Emma Stone. Putting them together in a romantic comedy where their first kiss involves an assertive, rain-soaked Emma Stone getting exactly what she wants made for one of the year's steamiest onscreen kisses. Not to mention Gosling's adept assist in the scene: He is a Best Kiss winner after all (for "The Notebook") and responsible for one of the best acceptance "speeches" in MTV Movie Awards history.
Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2"
Oh, young love. So angsty and confusing and frustrating and, in the case of "Harry Potter" characters Hermione (Watson) and Ron (Grint), too many years in the making. Though the big moment in the movie was different from how things went down in J.K. Rowling's beloved novels, you can still hear the collective sighs and squeals over their very long-awaited first lip-lock in the blockbuster franchise's eighth and final film, "Deathly Hallows, Part 2."
Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, "The Hunger Games"
Known affectionately to "Hunger Games" fans as the "cave scene," Katniss (Lawrence) and Peeta (Hutcherson) find themselves between a literal rock and a hard place when Katniss must venture out to fetch her teammate and would-be love the medicine that will save his life. Katniss' winning argument for risking her life is sealed with a kiss.
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1"
"Twilight" fans will never tire of seeing kisses shared between their favorite onscreen couple, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. And luckily for the fans, the three-time winners know how to get the job done, as demonstrated by their passionate, lengthy and very public display of affection after being announced as man and wife in "Breaking Dawn - Part 1."
Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, "The Vow"
What's more romantic than a devoted and doting husband? One who is charged with the very difficult task of making his wife fall in love with him all over again after she sustains severe memory loss from a traumatic accident. Such is the sweet and sigh-worthy setup for Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams' heart-melting second first kiss in the romantic drama "The Vow."

Fierce Coldplay clip leaked to the Net on Saturday.

Rihanna on the set of the "Princess of China" video
Photo: Island/Def Jam
Coldplay and Rihanna have been teasing their "Princess of China" video for a while now. On Saturday (June 2), the clip leaked ahead of its scheduled Monday release date.
The trippy video is full of surreal images that play on the song's references to Asia, with Chris Martin and Rihanna donning all sorts of ninja and ninja-goddess couture. A desert, the sky and some ancient-looking Chinese palaces all serve as backgrounds. Martin and Rih Rih also do some sword-wielding and ninja kicks, for good measure.
In more emotional parts of the clip, Rihanna and Martin, playing star-crossed lovers, kneel in the desert, forehead to forehead, as they mourn the loss of their love. But the moving image soon turns violent as they float through the air and partake in a ninja battle.
Much like the characters in the song, the onscreen characters are torn up about their dying love. And while the love story is at the center of the clip, Rihanna's look is also a standout as she appears in several forms: multi-armed goddess, heartbroken geisha and fierce warrior princess.
The official June 4 release date had been pushed back from May before leaking to the Net on Saturday, the same day Rihanna dropped some behind-the-scenes photos on Facebook. In the images, her hair is done up in a geisha bun and she wears long, fringe earrings. They're similar to shots she released back in March from the video shoot.
"Her bit on our record is my favorite bit," the Coldplay frontman told MTV News last fall about Rihanna's feature on Mylo Xyloto. "When the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it. And I think at this point, we have nothing to lose, and so we've been trying some new things and trying to break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music."

'I'm always for the underdog coming back,' Abdul says of new 'X Factor' judge Spears.

His next big bash? Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, where he'll present a special party-film montage. Winning!
By Josh Wigler
Charlie Sheen
Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images
There are those who dream of a life surrounded by goddesses and fueled by tiger blood, and there are those who live that dream. Charlie Sheen is decisively in that latter category.
The exiled "Two and a Half Men" star's party-hard antics are known far and wide thanks to his all-out media tour last year. Indeed, there is no greater party dude in Hollywood — which is exactly what makes him the perfect candidate to present a special party-film montage at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. And if you disagree, clearly you're not winning — but you will be once you read our five reasons why Sheen is the ultimate Movie Awards party dude:
» Charlie's got a long list of hard-partying characters to his name. Bud Fox. Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn. That sketchy dude in the police station in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." The list goes on. Fictional characters all of them, sure, but imbued with Sheen's own expertise in how to rage.
» There's one particular character in Sheen's career that bares its own mention: Charlie Harper. Sheen's hard-partying, small-screen "Two and a Half Men" persona loved chicks, drinking, late nights and trips to Vegas almost as much as Sheen himself. In fact, sometimes it was hard to tell where Charlie Harper ended and Charlie Sheen began. Partying, you see, is encoded in the DNA of both Charlies.
» Sheen's not just an actor, of course. Like many of his contemporaries, Charlie is a man who wears many hats: He's launched clothing lines, he's hosted online talk shows, he's led master classes in how to become a warlock without really trying. Juggling all those balls at once while still maintaining an acting career? Spread the hashtag: #winning.
» And then there's his personal life. Ah, his personal life. You read what we wrote earlier about goddesses and tiger blood, right? Right. We don't need to go into all the gory details. Much has already been made of the behind-closed-doors aspects of Charlie Sheen's life — because, well, pretty much none of it is behind closed doors.
» To conclude: why is Charlie Sheen the perfect Movie Awards party dude? Because the party does. Not. Stop. Ever.

The MTV Movie Awards traditionally feature many leaders from the world of pop culture. This year, the leader of the United States has chosen the Movie Awards to debut his first official re-election campaign commercial.
MTV News can report that President Obama's first 2012 campaign ad will air during the show, which begins live Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET.
President Obama's campaign spot won't be totally incongruous with the glam and glitz of the awards show. The ad features "Sex and the City" star Sarah Jessica Parker, who will invite supporters to her home for an Obama fundraiser co-hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. Campaign donors will have a chance to win a pair of tickets, which will be raffled off by Obama re-election campaign organizers.
On Friday, the Obama camp released a video where Wintour voiced her support for the President, who is running for a second term.
The commercial comes at a pivotal moment in Obama's bid for re-election. In May, the president made headlines when he announced his support for same-sex marriage, making him the highest ranking elected official to do so in American history. While several celebrities voiced their support, others thought it was a calculated attempt to gain voters. Obama's biggest challenge will come from presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney, who has contrasted his worldview with that of the Obama administration, most pointedly when it comes to economic policy. He has pledged to repeal Obama's healthcare reform bill and would like to lawfully define marriage as between a man and a woman, among other platform distinctions.

Britney will be 'train wreck' on 'X Factor,' new 'America's Got Talent' judge adds at press conference.
By James Montgomery
<P>Howard Stern held court at New York's Friars Club on Thursday in a long-running press conference to promote his upcoming stint as a judge on "America's Got Talent." And in keeping with the spirit of the legendary roasts that take place at the venue, he didn't shy away from taking some shots at his singing-competition contemporaries.</P><P>Stern was asked by a reporter whether he would have signed up for the "Talent" gig if it meant serving on a panel with "American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez and newly-announced <a href="/news/articles/1684813/britney-spears-x-factor-judge.jhtml">"X Factor" judge Britney Spears</a> — as opposed to the "Talent" tandem of Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne — and, well, let's just say he answered rather directly.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Howard Stern Calls Britney Spears And Jennifer Lopez 'Dummies'" id="vid:768341" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>"No, I would not [have], because I think we have the best judging panel out there, out of all these shows. I think that the judges all offer constructive, precise criticism, and I really like it," Stern said. "To sit there with J.Lo and Britney Spears and try to prop those two up, I'd be like a ventriloquist with two dummies; I'm not going to sit there and do that."</P><P>Stern didn't stop there, either. When he was asked for his thoughts on "The X Factor" 's reported <a href="/news/articles/1684879/britney-spears-x-factor-deal-judge.jhtml"> $15 million deal with Spears</a>, the shock jock joked that he was in favor of it ... for slightly dubious reasons, of course.</P><P>"I think it's a wonderful decision; Britney still thinks the world is flat. We're going to tune in to see if she can sort of function through the thing. As far as any real criticism, I think ["X Factor" judges] Simon [Cowell] and L.A. Reid will be doing that," he said. "I think Britney's going to stand there and eat a lollipop and wear a sexy outfit; I don't anticipate great opinions from her. I think she's going to sit there like J.Lo. 'Oh, you're wonderful, you're terrific. You think I could get a perfume endorsement out of this? You think I can perform on the show?' I think that's what it's about, but I think it will be interesting. ... I'll tune in to see what kind of train wreck she is, absolutely."</p>

The duo sat down with MTV News in Berlin to discuss a pair of unlikely collaborations.
By James Montgomery
<P>Theirs is a relationship that has spanned time and Twitter, <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/keshasuxx/status/77286418598211584" target="_blank">seafood</a> and <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/keshasuxx/status/157523381602889728" target="_blank">shaving</a>, but over the years, the unlikely bond between the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/black_keys/artist.jhtml">Black Keys</a> and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/id_3213641/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a> has grown to become something <i>more</i>: a genuine friendship, marked with the occasional trespassing charge.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Would The Black Keys Ever Collaborate With Ke$ha?" id="vid:731631.id:1678505" width="240" height="211"></div><p></P><P>"We're friends with her, we've known her since way before she was famous, before she was even a singer, I guess," Keys drummer Patrick Carney told MTV News. "When she was 16 years old, she used to sneak into our shows. We kind of became friends with her by kicking her out of our backstage room, over and over again. She actually has snuck into shows in L.A., San Diego, Coachella ..."</P><P>"She snuck in and [got] kicked out of one show, like, <i>five</i> times," frontman Dan Auerbach added. "[She] snuck in through the kitchen. I don't know if she's such a big fan; she just likes breaking the rules."</P><P>So, when MTV News sat down with the 'Keys in Berlin during the premiere of their <a href="/news/articles/1678662/black-keys-gold-on-the-ceiling-music-video.jhtml">"Gold on the Ceiling"</a> video, we had to ask if their friendship with Ke$ha would take the next step: an actual musical collaboration. It's not all that far-fetched, considering both Ke$h and Auerbach live in Nashville ("I see her every once in a while flying by in her T-Top [convertible]," Auerbach laughed), and recently, the glittery one has logged studio time with <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/keshasuxx/status/160846424609787906" target="_blank">the Flaming Lips</a>. So, could we see a team-up on the next Black Keys album?</P><P>"I guess, I don't know," Carney said. "We don't really do that many collaborations, really."</P><P>OK, so if a Ke$ha collabo isn't in the cards, just who would the 'Keys like to work with next? Well, as it turns out, they've got their eyes set on landing a very big star for the next record ... even if they mistakenly believe he's deceased.</P><P>"We both want to work with Jim Nabors very badly, but apparently he's not with us anymore," Carney said. Oh, <a href="http://www.jimnabors.com/" target="_blank">but he is.</a> Which means that, much like Nabors, the dream is alive. The Ke$ha collabo? Eh, probably not so much.</P><P><i>Should the Black Keys hit the studio with Ke$ha? Leave your comment below!</i></p>

Leave it to the queen of contradiction, Madonna, to kick off her world tour in support of MDNA in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Thursday night by making a plea for peace in the Middle East during a show in which she brandished a machine gun and a revolver.
Performing in front of 32,000 fans at a sold-out Ramat Gan Stadium, Madonna dubbed the show a "Concert for Peace" and handed out hundreds of tickets to Israeli peace activists, according to Israeli newspaper Ha'Aretz. The night was full of the usual mix of controversial images, bare-chested, buff male dancers and multiple high-fashion costume changes from the 53-year-old pop icon.
Madonna opened the concert amid images of both crosses and satanic symbols as she took the stage to perform "Girl Gone Wild," by breaking through the glass window of a confessional using a rifle, according to an Associated Press report. Wearing a black, skintight outfit, she performed the song accompanied by a troupe of dancers dressed as monks.
She followed with "Gang Bang," during which the huge onstage screens filled with blood stains and she brandished the firearms while wrestling with armed intruders. Another song, "Revolver," had Madonna swinging around a Kalashnikov rifle as her dancers spun around holding Uzi machine guns. Making good on her rehearsed shout-out/dis of Lady Gaga, "Express Yourself" bled into a bit of Mother Monster's "Born This Way," ending with the repeated refrain, "she's not me."
For that song and the first MDNA single, "Give Me All Your Luvin'," she was dressed as a marching band conductor and was surrounded by similarly dressed cheerleaders and drum majors.
The show also featured several appearance by Madonna's 11-year-old son, Rocco, who wore a monk's robe and shiny blue t-shirt and orange headphones as he danced along to mum's tunes.
Madonna is not Jewish, but is a devotee of the Jewish mystical practice of Kabbalah, and the AP reported that at one point in the show she wrapped herself in an Israeli flag and called Israel the "energy center of the world." According to Ha'Aretz, she also took an opportunity to address the audience about the prospects of long-elusive peace in the Middle East.
"You can't be a fan of mine and not want peace in the world," she said during the two-hour show at the start of her most extensive world tour ever. "We all bleed the same color. If we can all rise above our egos and our titles and the names of our countries and our religions, and treat everyone around us with dignity and respect, then we are on the road to peace. If there is peace here in the Middle East, there can be peace in the whole world."
